Research interests: inflammatory lung diseases
Professor Molnar is a board certified thoracic surgeon with interest in inflammatory lung diseases (thoracic empyaema, tuberculosis), chest trauma, history of thoracic surgery, MedTech issues (tissue engineering included). Basic research, theory and clinical practice with regard to lung cancer are in the focus of his professional interest. He is a board certified specialist in military and disaster medicine as well.
Professor Molnar did his General Surgery residency in Hungary and completed his thoracic surgery training in Hungary, Germany and United Kingdom. He joined University of Pécs Medical Center in 1994 and stayed on faculty till 2012. He is the founder of the Thoracic Surgery Department in Pécs (1994) and Győr (2012). He runs an independent PhD program within the national scientific research scheme with 6 active participants. He is an expert witness at legal courts. He is the founder of the Operational Medicine Department at Pécs University with the main profile of disaster and military medicine. He is actively involved in technical and non-technical skill projects with a special interface with Medical Humanities. He has an MA degree in History as well.
Professor Molnar is the author of more than 150 English publications (IF>110), book chapters and is actively involved in basic science and clinical research. He has been an invited speaker on chest trauma, innovation, MedTech, history & philosophy of surgery and lung cancer. Professor Molnar holds positions on several international, national, and local boards/committees.
