Dr. Cherian graduated from Govt. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, following which he did his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He then completed a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center, following which he joined as faculty there in 2015. He is core faculty in the department of internal medicine as well as within the division of critical care, pulmonary and sleep medicine at UT Health. Dr. Cherian has an excellent record as an educator and has won numerous teaching awards all through his career so far.
Dr. Cherian has authored numerous publications, reviews, book chapters and is actively involved in clinical research. He also serves as section editor on “Occupational and environmental lung diseases” in Current Pulmonology Reports. Moreover, he has been invited to present at several local and national meetings including CHEST and ATS. He serves on multiple local committees and is member of several steering committees in the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). His main interests include rare lung diseases and neoplasms, pleural diseases and interventional pulmonology.
